Finance Intern: Centre for Applied Legal Research (CALR)

Job Summary
1. Managing and maintaining accounting records
2. Reconciling bank statements with general ledger
3. Maintaining accounting databases and processing backups
4. Managing petty cash transactions
5. Verifying invoice accuracy and prepare necessary documentation for payment
6. Updating and maintaining accounting journals, ledgers and other records
7. Preparation of Disbursement vouchers, Receipt vouchers, Accounting Journals, etc. and ensuring that they are ready for approval
8. Reconciling the staff advance account(s) and ensure that all advances are liquidated timeously
9. Assist with internal and external audits and ensure that they are successfully completed
10. Assist in the preparation of the monthly Payroll by ensuring that all staff members timeously complete accurate timesheets
11. Administer staff leave days and ensure that all statutory returns are submitted before the due date(s)
12. Filling and record keeping
Qualifications and requirements
Candidate must be above 18 years and seeking on the job learning. Candidate should hold at least first degree in Accounting or Finance and or Diploma Level for professional qualifications such as CIMA or ACCA. Competence in MS Office is a must and conversant with Pastel or an accounting software is an added advantage. Candidate should be of high ethical standards, exhibit high standards of professionalism, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
